Academic Fellow at the Department of Biomedical Sciences of the University of West Attica since 2019. Also, since 2018, she has been working as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Laboratory of Insect Molecular Genetics and Biotechnology of the Institute of Biosciences and Applications, which is based at the National Center for Natural Sciences Research “Demokritos”. Graduate in Agricultural Biotechnology (2006) and holder of a Master’s Degree (2009) from the Agricultural University of Athens. PhD in the subject of Molecular Biology and Insect Biotechnology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2016). She has carried out research projects in the Department of Biology at the KU Leuven University in Belgium (2018), at the Faculty of Biological Sciences at Ghent University (2018), and at the Department of Lipid Research & Cardiovascular Epidemiology at the IMIM Institute in Barcelona (2007). Her research interests focus on the investigation of silencing mechanisms such as RNAi with an emphasis on insect models, aiming to develop applied methodologies for the use of virions and viruses as “vehicles” for the delivery of silencing signals to insects. She is also studying the piRNA pathway with regard to its participation in mechanisms activated during viral infections in insect models, as well as the role it plays in human diseases. To date, he has published 13 scientific papers in international journals with an h-index of 8.
